Don’t get it twisted. “Now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed (Romans 13:11).” Modern theology would disagree that these catastrophes are signs of God’s judgment upon a sinful nation, which is being called to repentance before Jesus Christ returns. I beg to differ. God is calling us all to repentance NOW! I believe God is in control of these past and upcoming storms. The winds and the water obeys God commands (Luke 8:24-25). We can Read Job 1:1-12 and wonder if Satan is in control of bringing these evils upon the land, however, Satan must seek permission from God before laying a single hand. Overall, God is in total control and allows calamity as He sees fit (Ecclesiastes 3, Romans 8:28). It is up to us to hold on to our power and not fall for the enemy tricks while we wait for Jesus Christ return (Ephesians 4:26-27).
Remember, Jesus came to save men, not destroy (Luke 9:56); BUT, upon His return, He is coming with a sword (Matthew 10:34, Amos 5:18). How did we get here? Lucifer rebelled (Isaiah 14), so he fell (Luke 10:18). Now the same lies the devil tell (Revelation 12:9) to mankind like he did with Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:17, deceiving people into going against God, is leading every unbeliever of Christ to hell – Just read Revelation 21:8-12. We are in a season of judgment. God is judging our nation just like He did with Sodom and Gomorrah (Luke 10:12-15). Do not fear or be discouraged. “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death (2 Corinthians 7:10).” Huh? There is a sorrow that God will bring to cause goodness in a person’s life; to rescue a person or bring healing and restoration (Acts 3:19) - forever. There is a sorrow that last for a short time, but also following a joy that lasts for eternity. “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later (Romans 8:18).
“It’s not fair”, many may grumble, “I just want to live my life.” Is living a comfortable and happy lifestyle truly worth it if it offends God? It is time to turn from all wrong deeds and serve God properly. What if God took away all freedom of choice? What if God’s love resembled impatience and instant judgment? Would that be love (2 Peter 3:9)? God freely gave us power and authority when He created us (Genesis 1:26-27). We chose to do what we wanted to do long enough. We chose who we wanted to serve long enough (Matthew 6:24). Nonetheless, God is so kind, gentle, and loving that He doesn’t force us to do otherwise (Romans 1:28-32). “Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves (Romans 13:2).”
Study the Word of God and be led by the Holy Spirit, NOT man (Nahum 1:3, Jonah 1:4, Psalm 78:26, Psalm 135:7, Zechariah 10:1-2). Don’t get it twisted. Now is the time to repent (Acts 2:38).
