Focus

Five better questions: One, what are you focused on? Two, are you focused on pleasing others or God (Galatians 1:10)? Three, are you focused on pleasing self or God (Romans 12:1-2)? Four, are you focused on the things of this world (Matthew 13:22, 1 John 2:15-17)? Finally, five, are you focused on Jesus and the things set above (Matthew 6:33, Colossians 3:2, Philippians 3:12-14)? I'm excited for God to come take home all His people but here's a thought, 'am I ready?' Until God comes for us, our goal should be to remain faithful to Christ (2 Timothy 4:2), regardless of what happens around us. We don't want to be wandering aimlessly in these times sinning as we please (Romans 6:23); asleep in death and miss the call (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). We may be tempted to lose faith, run wild with the world, or even to react ungodly towards those who don’t believe with us. Nevertheless, let us be reminded how God loves the unbeliever as much as the believer (John 3:16, Romans 5:8-9), and while believers wait for the Lord, God is patient with unbelievers (2 Peter 3:9), using believers to share the good news about the gift of repentance and Christ's forgiveness. Yes, it is time to repent! Yes, children of God (Romans 8:14), things WILL get harder as we wait upon the Lord, but greater lives in us  (1 John 4:4). Yes, Things WILL get worse (2 Timothy 3:12-13), but the best will fight for us (Exodus 14:14). Don't give up so easily. Hang in there! Hold on to your peace (John 14:27). We can overcome (Romans 8:31-39, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Philippians 4:13, 1 John 5:3-4, Revelation 12:11)! Remember, it's okay to fall (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23), however there is no victory in staying where you have fallen. Repent (1 John 1:9) and get back up in Jesus name (Proverbs 24:16). It is through Jesus we attain the strength and guidance needed to endure this life (Acts 2:21). Keep the faith and push on as we wait for the Lord. Focus!

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained. Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." - Philippians 3:12-21
