Jesus said: ““If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life [in the sense of indifference to or relative disregard for them in comparison with his attitude toward God]-- he cannot be My disciple.” - LUKE 14:26 AMP
“But many who are first [in this world] will be last [in the world to come]; and the last, first.” - MATTHEW 19:30 AMP
People complain because they have to go seven days without something they want, but continue to go years without what they need. Shows how comfortable this generation is with holding on to this world. Sad to say, I see a lot of y'all wouldn't give it ALL up if Jesus asked you to leave it all behind to follow Him to paradise today!
A lot of us worship our possessions, our family, our careers, or comfort, and others: their pastor or church, more than Jesus. Makes you wonder what ppl would do to survive if it all crumbled or dissipated today - no more economy, livestock, internet, church buildings, make-up, NOTHING.
Peter said, "Behold, we have left our own homes and followed You." And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life." - Luke 18:28-30
"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. - Luke 9:24
Jesus said: "Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." - Matthew 10:37
A life grounded on obedience and sacrifice unto God isn't easy - look at Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Jesus and His disciples. This explains why many choose to enter the wide and broad gate which is easy to travel, but also leads the way to destruction and eternal loss. It is the small and narrow gate, which is difficult to travel, however this path leads the way to EVERLASTING life (Matthew 7:13-14).
Prayer: Jesus, I come to you as a sinner in need of your forgiveness. I believe you are the Son of God. I believe you went to the cross, died in my place, paying my sin debt. I believe that you were buried & God raised you from the dead on the 3rd day to everlasting life. Jesus, right now, I choose to receive you as my Savior; Reign on the throne of my heart, be in control of my thoughts and actions. I am trusting in you alone for my salvation. Thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for your GIFT of eternal life in Heaven. Amen!
